Since 1979, the leather community has looked to Chicago during Memorial Day Weekend for the biggest leather competition in the U.S. Along with the contest, Leather Market and other related events, there are dance parties that match the theme — but the parties to attend are the Circuit MOM events, the official dance parties for IML. The producer takes over some of Chicago's biggest clubs for night-time parties that celebrate the leather tribe on the dance floor. Go to the IML site for more information.

Northalsted Market Days

This annual two-day August festival has grown to become the Midwest's largest street festival with attendance exceeding 300,000. With three music stages and a dance floor, it offers outdoor dancing, but there are, of course, parties going on all night, too.

Alegria Chicago

It's no surprise that the most-respected and best-known gay megadance producer gives the biggest, baddest party during Market Days.

3458 N. Halsted St.

Chicago's principal gay dance club is a must-visit. The sound system — and so are the weekend crowds, who will let you know exactly why this is the "city of big shoulders."

3356 N. Halsted St.

This is bascially a Boystown neighborhood bar with a dance floor. What that means is that you drink, shoot pool, watch the videos and cruise, singalong, even dine — or dance.

954 W. Belmont Ave

This late-night (4 a.m. in Chicago) club is straight-friendly, but definitely gets the boyz who want to whoop it up on the dance floor on the retro nights (big here), but also nights featuring acid House and tech House, and just about every other form of House music.
