It's official: After two years of getting the "City of Big Shoulders" to shake its shoulders — and back and arms and booty — Alegria has taken pride of place as the party of Market Days.
It stands to reason that a big, brawny metropolis like Chicago would take North America's best-known and most-respected gay party brand to its heart.
Market Days has long been considered the biggest annual gay weekend on the city's calendar. All the hottest men in the Midwest gathering together provided super-producer Ric Sena with an irresistible venue for his unique blend of masculinity, music and muscle.
The largest street festival in the Midwest, Market Days takes over Boystown with over 100,000 festivalgoers. As the end nears its end, everyone looks forward to spending a long night on the dance floor sweating to the hard-driving, pulsating beats that have become, along with superior production values, Alegria's trademark. And this year, there is even more excitement in store as the DJ most closely associated with Alegria's vibe (in every sense), Abel, takes his place in the Concord Music Hall's DJ booth.
Concord Music Hall, Chicago's newest major music venue, is conveniently located near Logan Square and Boystown. This 1,600-capacity club is one of the city's largest. And it will be packed with gorgeous men (and those who love them).
If you live in Chicagoland, you're definitely going to be there. If you live anyplace within driving distance, this is your chance to experience the kind of party that keeps the crowd on the dance floor from Sunday night into Monday morning first hand without having to travel to New York. Even if you don't, it's worth the travel time to experience the city, the weekend, and Alegria.
As large as the Music Hall is, it can only hold so many people. Expect the party to sell out well before mid-August. Buying as soon as tickets go on sale at the end of June will also save you money! Check out Alegria's Web site and the event's Facebook page for updates and more information.
